This week we worked on a full shift in the directionn of the project. We changed the narrative, name, looks, and the website to reflect all of the changes. We reconsidered all the feedback and decided to opt for a more realistic setting for the experience so it can convey the message that "this is just your day-to-day life tasks that someone in a wheelchair can't do easily" better. Our current theme of a more familiar setting definitely should be more relatable to users and aid in generating empathy.
Functionality-wise, we didn't have a collider on the wheelchair in milestone-2. We got to implementing that rightaway as it was crucial to our front of the house hurdle- the staircase. But adding a collider as the root broke everything we had functioning. So we spent a two days getting the wheelchair movement back to how it was beofre. This set us back far enough that we couldn't finish the more complex movement in time. We also focsed on getting the in-game hints so that the user would get the right amount of handholding throughout the experience. We really wanted to get at least another level fleshed out but due to the setback with the wheelchair movement we were unable to do that. But we did get everything visually set up.
Next week is going to have to be very grueling. We have to focus on getting the wheelchair movement done and also implement the rest of the rooms. We will prioritize getting the complex wheelchair movement down first but also develope the rest of the experience in parallel so that the experience doesn't feel so sparse- with the only level we have currently.
