Immersive Empathy Building VR Journey

The Concept

Wheel-A-Way is a VR journey set in your neighbor's home. You explore room-by-room, solve environment-driven puzzles, and navigate real-life obstacles from that of a wheelchair user’s perspective to find your neighbor's missing passport in time for his flight.

Wheel-A-Way is meant to be used as both a game and a way to educate individuals on accessibility obstacles for those in wheelchairs. Our experience helps to build empathy for those with accessibility limitations and put people directly in the shoes of someone in a wheelchair.

I’m a junior at the University of Michigan studying computer science with a passion for design. I love personalizing my digital tools to suit my exact preferences, so naturally, designing Wheel-A-Way’s world has been an absolute blast!

I’m a Senior at the University of Michigan College of Engineering studying Computer Science. In my free time I do photography, fly drones, ski, snowboard, surf, compete in a variety of sports and work with animals whenever I can! Working with Wheel-A-Way has been a great experience, especially with how I can personally relate to the struggle of navigating spaces while injured/ disabled.
